Former President of Brazil's National Health Insurance Agency and Delegation Visit Cell Valley Group Headquarters Discussing Collaboration on the Implementation of Advanced Cell Therapies in Brazil

      On June 9, a core delegation from the Brazilian healthcare sector made a special visit to the Cell Valley Group headquarters for in-depth discussions on topics including the implementation of cell and gene therapy technologies in Brazil, pathways for IIT clinical research collaboration, patient service system development, and China-Brazil cooperation on advanced medical therapies. Dr. Fu Yuchen, Director of the Cell Valley Group's International Medical Service Center, and Han Shu, Director of the General Administration Office, received the delegation and participated in the symposium.

The visiting Brazilian delegation included Martha Oliveira, former President of the Brazilian National Health Insurance Agency (ANS) and current CEO of Grupo Laços; Cristiana Vidigal Lopes, Product Director at Grupo Laços; Murilo Buso, Head of Parque Saúde Medical Mall; Marcos Rocha Rabello, Executive Director of Captamed Cuidados Continuados; and Dr. Hanna Kim, an expert in oncology and medical data analytics at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. These five representatives come from sectors including Brazilian healthcare services, oncology diagnosis and treatment, home care, health management, and clinical research at a top-tier hospital, offering strong industry representation and resource synergy.

During the symposium, the two sides held pragmatic discussions on key aspects of advancing cell and gene therapy projects in Brazil, including the integration of local clinical resources, IIT clinical research design, ethical and regulatory pathways, patient screening and follow-up systems, sample and data management, cell manufacturing and quality control standards, cross-border medical service coordination, and the feasibility of establishing an advanced cell therapy translation platform in Brazil.

Dr. Fu Yuchen noted that the Cell Valley Group has long focused on the full-chain industrialization of cell and gene therapy, building an integrated technology platform covering viral vectors, CAR-T, CAR-NK, NK cells, γδT cells, mesenchymal stem cells, and extracellular vesicles. The Group has also made sustained strides in clinical translation services, quality system development, hospital collaboration networks, and international medical services. With respect to the Brazilian market, Cell Valley aims to explore cooperation models for advanced therapies that suit local needs, working with Brazilian medical institutions and service system partners in a compliant, steady, and stepwise manner.

Drawing on their respective institutional strengths and the unique characteristics of the Brazilian healthcare system, the visiting representatives offered insights on topics including oncology patient management, elderly health services, home care support, hospital clinical research capacity, real-world data collection, long-term patient follow-up, and payment accessibility. Both sides agreed that cell and gene therapy faces substantial clinical demand and growth opportunities in Brazil, but that successful implementation requires not only advanced technology but also the involvement of hospitals, physicians, care systems, patient management platforms, payers, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
